Professor John Tobin-de la Puente

John Tobin-de la Puente is a Professor of Practice at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management in the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. Professor Tobin is an ecologist and attorney with over two decades of private sector experience, having worked in the international finance industry for much of his career.
Following a decade of corporate legal practice in the area of emerging markets finance, while actively providing counsel on environmental conservation matters on a pro bono basis, Professor Tobin turned his full attention toward the growing area of corporate sustainability, becoming Managing Director and Global Head of Sustainability at Credit Suisse. In this position, he pioneered a variety of initiatives and policies aimed at setting the finance industry on a more sustainable course.
In 2016, Professor Tobin transitioned into a faculty position at Cornell University, where he teaches corporate sustainability, environmental and social risk management, impact investing, environmental finance, and related topics to undergraduates and graduate students in business and public affairs. His research focuses on the use of financial tools to generate positive outcomes in the areas of sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.

Professor Lawrence Loh

Prof. Lawrence Loh is the Director of the Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School where he is a Professor in Practice for Strategy and Policy.
Prof. Loh received a PhD in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
At CGS, Prof. Loh leads key sustainability initiatives for Asia-Pacific, ASEAN and Singapore. He steers the Singapore Governance and Transparency Index and ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard. Prof. Loh also heads studies on business integrity and leadership diversity.
In the specific domain of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) relevant to sustainable investments, Prof. Loh has extensive professional engagements in the global and regional arenas. In collaboration with WWF, he was a lead investigator on a study in sustainable banking for all listed banks in ASEAN. Prof Loh directed the initiative that is commissioned by the Singapore Exchange to conduct sustainability assessments of all listed companies on the Exchange. He also headed the ASEAN sustainability reporting initiative covering six countries and steered the Asia-Pacific sustainability reporting assessment covering 13 jurisdictions. He currently spearheads a study on climate reporting in ASEAN companies with GRI.

Before his Sinyi professorship at the Cambridge Judge Business School, Prof. Chris Marquis was the Samuel C. Johnson Professor in Sustainable Global Enterprise and Professor of Management and Organizations at the Johnson College of Business at Cornell University for six years. Prior to Cornell, he taught for 10 years at Harvard Business School and had held visiting positions at the Harvard Kennedy School, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Peking University, Fudan University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong. He was Vice President and Technology Manager at JP Morgan Chase prior to his academic career.
Prof. Marquis is the author of more than 20 peer-reviewed academic articles and more than 50 Harvard business cases on topics related to social innovation, sustainable business and doing business in China.
His most recent book entitled "Better Business: How the B Corp Movement Is Remaking Capitalism" is the winner of the 2021 Axiom Gold Medal, under the Business Ethics category because of its deep focus on the potential for stakeholder governance models to reform capitalism.
